Fucking windy rainy nights are such a pain in the ass. Driving down Melrose on the way to the Clair Obscur Gallery traffic is a bitch. Iâ??ve just gotten off of work and all I want right now is a martini and a parking space. Turning onto a side street I find parking however I donâ??t get my martini. Not that it mattered; any thoughts of having a drink were swept away by images of Bettie Page. That face and that smile are enough to warm the heart and make me feel better instantly. Bettieâ??s playful sexy smile makes me feel proud to be a woman while stimulatingly causing me to make a silent vow to get back into the gym. I swear 10,000 years from now that woman will still be making men adjust themselves and making women jealous.

Tonight Iâ??m visiting the Clair Obscur Gallery to witness the first installment of their Bettie Page Uncensored series. This first exhibit features the work Bettie did with Bunny Yeager. Perhaps best known for the â??Jungle Bettieâ? series where she was featured with a pair of leopards, it was Bunnyâ??s photo that took Bettieâ??s Playmate photo in 1955. The most exciting thing about this exhibit isnâ??t seeing some of the more famous photos being shown, but the chance to see some photos of Bettie that have never been printed is a definite treat. Bunny had a way of capturing the fun side of Bettie like know one else. Perhaps it because being a former beauty queens herself Bunny knew how to set the stage to bring out the best in Bettie. No matter what the reason, Bettie and Bunny worked great together and have left a body of work that will be enjoyed throughout the ages.
The first two sections of Bettie Page Uncensored run through December 30th 2004. So if you missed the Bunny Yeager exhibit never fear a screening of Bettie Page-Dark Angel is set to open on December 2, 2004. This will be a screening of some of her striptease, bondage and burlesque films. With The Camera Club Photography exhibit opening up on December 4, 2004. There will also be an exhibit of Betties bondage photos in 2005. So as much as I want all Bettie fans to see all three exhibits, if you miss one never fears, as you can see there is plenty of Bettie to go around.
