Iâ??ve been hearing the buzz about Best of Seven for a while now. How their new cd Everything is New Again was going to be the thing that finally put them over the top. People have been sending me emails for months telling me how theyâ??re going to be the next big thing. Iâ??ve been promising myself for months that when time permits I was going to check them out and see what all the fuss is about. Itâ??s Saturday night at the Whiskey. I stand near the corner of the stage sipping a beer, as 3 or 4 average bands make their way on and off the stage. Sometimes you can tell the caliber of a band by the company it keeps, so far Iâ??m not impressed. For the time being the only thing keeping me amused is beer and Cheap Trick playing on the PA. The next band is making its way to the stage. In a haze of smoke and beer all I can see is a pair of black and white wing tips make their way across the stage. Iâ??m lost in the ending chorus of â??I want you to want meâ? playing my mini air guitar against my leg. Out of nowhere a live version of the song begins to play snapping me awake. Best of Seven has now taken the stage. Picking up in the middle of Cheap Trick is an awesome way to begin a show. Now they have my attention. Leaning against the side of the stage and vibe to the music, one of the tightest bands Iâ??ve heard in a long time. They had a crisp sound where you could hear the vocals clearly, which our web master would have been happy to hear. Tight harmonies blasting bass and a wicked drummer helped round out the sound. I can see why people are talking about Best of Seven. When I closed my eyes I can see them playing some kind of huge stadium type venue selling out and kicking ass. It was defiantly a highlight to what could have been a very mediocre evening. Check them out at www.bestofsevenonline.com
