Burzum Goes Back to Their Roots PDF Print Email

Burzum is going to drop  Umskiptar on May 22nd. I am so fucking stoked for this album! Anytime a band bases an album on poetry it's going to be good times. Umskiptar is based on a classic piece of  Scandinavian Poetry  “Voluspa" which tells the story of creation as dictated by the all mighty Odin. As always Burzum will sing this album in their mother tounge, something that always makes it a bit more fun. Front man Varg Vikernes had this to say about the album:

“The vocals are more important than on any previous album with a total of 66 stanzas making up the album’s lyrics.”

I cannot wait to hear this shit!

Fuck, fuck fuck I hate it when I hear about things at the last minute! Valdour is going to be headlinng The Coven: Blood Pact with the Devil on Friday the 13th in Baldwin Park, CA. This is going to be the best thing to hit Baldwin Park since they put in the giant CarMax a few years ago. I was going to get drunk and watch Friday the 13th until I pass out on Friday but I think this is sounding much better!

Devil's Blood Talks About the Decibel Magazine Tour PDF Print Email

The Decibel Magazine Tour is fast approaching. On April 11th Devil's Blood, Watain, In Solitude and Behemoth will spread darkness and all things awesome across the land. Every band on the bill is awesome, but I am definately looking forward to seeing Watain and Devi'ls Blood again. The last time I saw Watin live it took me about a week to get rid of the black snot and the smell of pigs bl ood out of my hair! All hall marks of a very good time indeed. I haven't had the pleasure of seeing Devil's Blood, but after hearing what SL of Devil's Blood had to say about the show I can't wait to take part in their brand of mayhem!

“THE DEVIL'S BLOOD are proud and extremely eager to travel the New World alongside some of the world’s most dedicated metal bands. Dedicated not to some pathetic notion of ‘scene’ or ‘unity’ but to a clear, totally individual, spiritual path that although not understood by most is perhaps the most valid and urgent one available for wandering feet to travel in the twilight of the Iron Age. We share many opinions and disagree on many more, yet our offerings all speak of that great mystery which we all aspire to with passion and fury. Praise be to all those who accompany us on this particular path.”

Les Discrets So Pretty It's Scary PDF Print Email

I know it's cool for us as Americans to hate on the French, actually I thnk most people think it's cool to hate on the French. And to be fair the French can be shitty sometimes. But it's getting harder and harder to hate the French when they keep producing bands like The Old Dead Tree, Akbar, Alcest and now Les Discrets.

Les Discrets adds another layer to the amazing avant doom/shoegaze stuff that has been coming out of France the last few years. Where even the heaviest of Alcest tunes is still tinged with the hope and love of the mystical realm that inspires Neige; Les Discrets is heavy and brooding. The stuff of heart ache and nightmares. Their new album "Ariettes Oubliees" dropped on March 27th and after watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvcgBgb8o0Q I can't wait to listen to the rest of it!
