Portal will release the Lovecraft-based "Lurker in the Dark" on May 11th. The 7' album will consist of three songs from Portal's 2006 demo album and a fourth song that is all new material. Portal is going to release this album as a limited edition, with only 500 copies being pressed. The only part of this that gets me even remotely excited is that Portal had Chimere Noire do the artwork for the album. If you haven't seen Chimere Noire's work your can check it out at http://www.myspace.com/chimerenoire. Chimere Noire does killer Metal illustrations that are beautifully creepy. You can see the art work for Portal's "Lurker in the Dark" on Chimere Noire's MySpace page.
In other Portal news, Portal is going to back on U.S. shores in May. It's a short run that starts in LA and ends at the Maryland Death Fest on May 29th. You can get more info on dates at http://www.myspace.com/the-portal, but here are the dates as we know them.
5/14/2010 Oasis Club - Los Angeles, CA 5/15/2010 Thee Parkside - San Francisco, CA 5/18/2010 Club Satyricon - Portland, OR 5/19/2010 The Funhouse - Seattle, WA 5/23/2010 Now That’s Class - Cleveland, OH 5/24/2010 Mohawk Place - Buffalo, NY 5/25/2010 Great Scott - Boston, MA 5/26/2010 Knitting Factory - Brooklyn, NY 5/27/2010 Kung Fu Neck Tie - Philadelphia, PA 5/29/2010 Sonar - Baltimore, MD @ Maryland Death Fest |

Now that they are done with North American tour with Paul DiAnno, Icarus Witch is making a change to their line-up. Here is the official Icarus Witch statement about the upcoming changes: "We are excited to announce yet another massive shift in our ranks as we welcome new vocalist Christopher Shaner to the ICARUS WITCH circle and part ways amicably with original vocalist, Matthew Bizilia. Matthew's contributions to the band have been immeasurable over the past six years. While this was a serious decision for both parties, professional differences of opinion led to the change. Bizilia is a phenomenal talent who will always be a part of the Witch family as we wish him much success on his future ventures." Shaner has a bit of history with Icarus Witch, He has been a long time friend and collaborator with guitarist Quinn Lukas before he joined Icarus Witch in 2006. With the new line-up in place Icarus Witch has already started working on the follow-up to Draw Down the Moon. |

Gloominous Doom has posted their video for "Portal Potty" over at Metal Injection. This video is odd to say the least; part concept, part performance video, Gloominous Doom runs into a magical port-a-potty in their garage. They then embark on a magical journey and run into Jimi Hindrix, Marilyn Monroe, Abe Lincoln and Jesus. Directed by Dave Causa, this video is weird as fuck, but funny as hell. It's not completely safe for work so go to http://www.metalinjection.net/tv/view/4769/gloominous-doom---portal-potty-video when you get home. Gloomious Doom's new album "The Feature" is scheduled to drop on DRP Records on May 4th. |
