Who Says Death Metal has no Heart PDF Print Email

I try to keep the politics out of the stuff I rant on about here, but sometimes it can't be helped. I'm sure most of you have seen the clips of Santorim (yes I know I spelled it wrong, but I totally rufuse to spell his name right) saying that Metal heads should go into some kind of fucked up inturnment camps to rid of us of evil. And don't even get me started on the anti-women shit he's been going on and on about. I swear to fuck 1982 called and they want their outdated sterotypes back you fuck!

In any event, with assholes on the campagin trail trying to push the anti-metal message back into the mainstream it's nice to see Metal bands doing their share for their fellow humans. No strangers to poverty themselves, Archaios is going to dotate 25% of the profitcs from "The Distant" to relief efforts for the people of Hati and Japan. The devastation caused by the earthquake in Hatil and the tusanmi in Japan may have been swept to the back burner of American news, the surviviors of these disasters are still feeling the hardships of the devestation.

You can check out Archaios' video message on their relief efforts here http://www.metalinjection.net/tv/view/8595/archaios-a-message-to-the-fans.

Streaming Hour of Penance PDF Print Email

I'm sure that there are financial agrements that I can't possibly understand at work here, but I am annoyed when I see awesome bands like Hour of Penance, Skeletonwitch and Nile opening for the also rans The Black Dahila Murder. It always seems like the line ups are perversely skewed with the insanely awesome bands playing in the slots where few will see them and the mediorce bands headlining get all of the glory. Yeah, I think that just getting Hour of Penance on a major tour is a good thing, it just sucks that the good have to play second fiddle to the just alright.

To soothe my  annoyance at the way opening acts and headliners are chosen, the folks at Decibal are streaming Hour of Penance's new single "Decimating The Ancestry Of The Only God,” over at http://www.decibelmagazine.com/featured/streaming-hour-of-penance-decimate-the-ancestry-of-the-only-god/. Hour of Penance will also be playing along side Nile and Skeletonwitch this spring. Show up early to experience the awesome!

I have a love, hate relationship with bands releasing things on vinyl. On the one hand, things released on vinyl just sound better sometimes. They also have the added bonus of making your music collection look super cool. On the other hand, I am one of the many people who doesn't own a record player. And I'm too cheap to fork out the cash for one. So while I' m competlely stocked at the idea of Brutally Deceased putting "Dead Lover's Guide" out of vinyl on this month I was a bit brought down with the thought another album I won't be able to hear. Once again the dark lords have heard my prayers and Lavadome is going to make "Dead Lover's Guide" available for free downlad at http://lavadome.bandcamp.com/album/dead-lovers-guide and http://brutallydeceased.bandcamp.com/. All hail the dark lords, and free mutha fuckin music!

Fear Factory’s “The Industrialist” is going to drop soon and with the new album comes a new round of tour dates. The tour kicks off on May 1st in San Antonio and has Fear Factory plowing through through the US for the next 20 days. This will be new basest Matt DeVries first time out with Fear Factory, but seeing as Mr. DeVries has played with the likes of  Chimaira and Six Feet Under in his previous lives, I’m sure he’s more than up to the task of taking on the awesome that is Fear Factory live. I’m hoping that there will be more dates announced in the not too distant future, but here is the low down thus far:

5/01/2012 Backstage Live - San Antonio, TX
5/02/2012 Trees – Dallas, TX
5/03/2012 Scout Bar – Houston, TX
5/05/2012 State Theater - St. Petersburg, FL
5/06/2012 Culture Room - Ft. Lauderdale, FL
5/09/2012 Ziggy’s - Winston-Salem, NC
5/10/2012 Theater of Living Arts – Philadelphia, PA
5/11/2012 Wally’s Pub - Hampton Beach, NH
5/12/2012 Gramercy Theatre - New York, NY
5/13/2012 Sonar – Baltimore, MD
5/16/2012 The Crofoot Ballroom – Pontiac, MI
5/20/2012 Summit Music Hall – Denver, CO
