Lethe
Mnemsyne
Reptile Records
4.0

Mnemsyne isn't an especially heavy album, but it is a kick ass one. Mostly instrumental tracks fused with classic Rock heart and rhythm meld with trace amounts of Metal aggression. That is simultaneously soothing and hardcharging . There are loads of killer riffs and melodies to be had. And the bands experiments with different sound distortions add and extra layer todelish  to an already decadent piece of work. its the sort of album that can lift you up with soaring guitars or bring you down with its heavy bass and drum processions, but either wayMnemsyne is a good time for sure.

Gnaw
This Face
Conspiracy Records
4.5

This Face sounds like what I have always imagined goes on inside the head of a schizophrenic Strange voices and forces licking at your ear trying to force you to do things that you may not really want to do, but your compelled to obey the voices they are all powerful. The demonic hiss of the vox drives home the feeling of insanity with tribal drums and sound distortions. Giving you the feeling that there is no way to escape. Its kill or drown in the muck and despair. Fuckin hell I love this album. The Vox are the personification of pain and anguish. With some seriously creepy sound distortions that just lend more emotional weight to the lyrics. Number 8's tribal drums make you feel like a caged animal where Numbers 7 makes you want to beat something until it cant move. Gnaw defiantly delivers a killer debut with This Face. Kudos Guys!

HOD
Serpents
Ibex Moon
3.5

The track Harbinger of Death sums up HOD's Serpents perfectly. Its dark aggressive thrash played with a Southern Rock flair in a way that only people from Texas seem to be able to bring it. The menace of the growlingvox is amplified by the jack hammer of drums pounding in your ears. Before slicing through you with some sick guitar riffs. There are a few places in the album where it feels a bit confused. Where everyone seems to be playing a solo all at once. Its a bit of a downer because it comes in just asyou're really getting into the groove of Ritual of Vengeance. It stops your flow and makes you think what the fuck just happened here? Did the cd just skip? Luckily this lil snafu only lasts a few seconds and you're back to headbanging in no time. A minor slip in what is overall a pretty kick ass album.

Roxy Epoxy and the Rebound
Bandaids on Bullet Holes
Metropolis
4.5

If Miss Derringer had an illicit love affair with The Pretenders, Roxy Epoxy and the Rebound would be their bastard love child. Bandaids on Bullet Holes is delicious dark pop rock perfection. While its obvious that they are heavily influenced by the lo-fi rock style of bands like The Pretenders, the syths interwoven throughout the album give it that little extra edge. Pushing it over the top for a good album to a fucking kick ass album. The lyrics are dark sarcastic and fun. Delivered with a low seductive drone.Trax like Svengali bring to mind some bad ass Joan Jett chick pushing the fellas to their knees and turning them into her toys without breaking a sweat or a nail. Its subversive, sexy and fun all of the things that make Rock-n- Roll a joy.

Deceiver
Thrashing Heavy Metal
Pulverised Records
3.0

I'm listening to Deceiver's Thrashing Heavy Metal with a lot of mixed emotions. On the one hand its sad to see yet another good band call it quits and I can only hope that if these guys are to resurface in other projects that they bring it with the same ferocity they did as Deceiver. But seeing as their new album is also their last I am a bit disappointed. I was expecting their last album to be a balls out, no holds bared experience of heavy mayhem. What I have instead is something that just alright at best. The riffs are solid but they are nothing to write home about. You hear a lot of different influence on this album. They play around with some Thrash, Doom and even some flat out Rock sounds. And there is the problem, its a little too all over the place. If this album is going to be their last hurrah, a final statement you want them to give you something that is the essence of what the band stood for. Instead you have something that doesn't really do them justice. A sort of empty feeling because you know there isn't going to be another album that will showcase what Deceiver is truly capable of.
